With over a decade of experience in the bartending industry, the client, Daniel Castro, felt it was time to launch his own side-hustle and offer the industry his own unique take on what it means to not only serve up drinks, but to serve up memorable experiences to his customers. Thus, Second Line Hospitality was born. For a brand identity, the client wanted a logo that would embody his two great loves for the industry, his love of offering mindful hospitality through the way in which he serves his customers their drinks and his special love for the city of New Orleans, his source of inspiration and his home away from home. So we came up with an icon that captured his unique business name, Second Line, which was inspired by the festive second line parades characteristic of New Orleans. The icon is made up of a fleur-de-lis which symbolizes the client's love for New Orleans, a shaker which symbolizes his love for his craft, and a bow tie which symbolizes his taste for fashion and presentation. The brand identity was given an art deco-y look-and-feel to match the client's stylistic preferences along with a complementary art deco-y typeface called Parisish. Black and gold were chosen as colours to give the brand a sense of class as well as to provide another visual homage to New Orleans.
